Dehradun Military Academy

Why Dehradun Military Academy is the Best NDA Coaching for Girls in Dehradun, India just after 10th? because the National Defence Academy (NDA) has been delivering the young officers in the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. However, a strong move was done by the Supreme Court of India ruled in 2021 that women must also be allowed to appear for the NDA entrance exam, ensuring gender equality in one of the country’s most prestigious defence academy.

This momentous decision was a major step towards empowering women in India’s defence sector, breaking long-standing gender barriers, and allowing them to serve as commissioned officers alongside their male counterparts.

The Supreme Court’s 2021 Ruling – A Game Changer

Before 2021, women could only join the Armed Forces through short service commissions (SSC) or after completing their graduation through the Officer Training Academy (OTA) or other direct-entry schemes. They were not permitted to train at the NDA, which exclusively catered to male candidates.

However, in response to a petition filed by Kush Kalra, the Supreme Court ruled in August 2021 that the restriction on female candidates was unconstitutional and discriminatory. The Court directed the Union Government and the Ministry of Defence to allow women to take the NDA entrance exam, thereby ensuring equal opportunities in military leadership.

The first batch of female cadets joined NDA in 2022, marking a historic moment in India’s military history.

Why Is This Decision Significant?

  1. Breaking Gender Barriers
  2. Creating Future Women Leaders in the Armed Forces
  3. Enhanced Representation of Women in Defence Services
  4. Encouraging More Women to Join the Defence Sector
